Who We Are

At Zenco Group, we grow what the world has been extracting for over a century. We cultivate seaweed at scale in the open ocean, convert it into a proprietary densified feedstock, and process it through anaerobic digestion into renewable energy, biochemicals and synthetic fuel — all compatible with today's grids, pipelines and vehicles. Grown, not extracted.

Zenco Group was founded in 2023 by Sean McNeill. We began as Offshore Solar, focused on floating solar farms, before grid connection barriers led us to pivot toward marine biomass as a route to chemically compatible alternatives to fossil energy, fuel and chemicals. That journey led to the name Zenco Group, inspired by the Kitsune — the mythical Japanese fox symbolising intelligence, adaptability and growth. Each capability we've added since, from seaweed cultivation to pelletisation and anaerobic digestion, is another tail of that same growth.

Today Zenco Group operates as three connected businesses. Zenco Seafarms cultivates Ulva spp. seaweed at scale in the open ocean, cleaning water and capturing CO2 as it grows, without using arable land or freshwater. Zenco Feedstock blends and pelletises the harvested seaweed with sorghum into a stable, shippable feedstock. Zenco Bioenergy processes that feedstock through anaerobic digestion to produce Zenethane (biomethane), Zemicals (biochemicals) and Zenthynol, a synthetic fuel made from captured Bio-CO2 via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.

How We Operate

Zenco Group operates as an integrated platform. Our Bioenergy hub processes feedstock into renewable energy, biochemicals and synthetic fuel. Our Seafarm and Feedstock sites cultivate and pelletise Ulva spp. seaweed. We're continuing to develop further Bioenergy and Seafarm sites, each following the same platform template: cultivate, pelletise, convert.

Zenco Group — Grown, Not Extracted.

How We Choose Sites

Our site selection is driven by two things: where seaweed grows best, and where the infrastructure exists to convert it at scale. We prioritise coastal waters with strong year-round growth conditions for cultivation, paired with locations offering established gas grid connections and industrial expertise for conversion.

Seafarm — Cultivation

Our Seafarm sites are sited in warm coastal waters with strong year-round growth conditions for Ulva spp. seaweed, and proximity to shipping routes for moving pelletised feedstock onward to conversion.

Bioenergy — Conversion

Our Bioenergy hubs are sited within major industrial clusters, with existing gas grid connections and anaerobic digestion expertise. It's where our feedstock becomes Zenethane, Zemicals and Zenthynol, ready to enter existing energy and chemical infrastructure.

As we grow, we're evaluating further Seafarm and Bioenergy sites, each following the same cultivate, pelletise, convert model.

"We're not looking for alternatives to fossil fuels. We're growing them — from seaweed, at scale, compatible with the infrastructure the world already has."

- Sean McNeill, Founder & CEO
